Why Workshop 55?

At Workshop 55, we do our level best to ensure that our guests have the most enjoyable experience, both gastronomically and otherwise – even when it isn’t South African Restaurant Week. With so many incredible restaurants in Jo’burg to choose from, our guests are spoiled for choice – that’s why we reinvent our menu regularly, ensure we use the freshest seasonal ingredients, and keep our spaces interesting for the best, new experience, every time.

WORK-SHOPPING YOUR DINING, DRINKING, OR ENTERTAINING EXPERIENCE

Our philosophy is simple: Fresh ingredients, sustainable sourcing, incredible taste.

Making it happen is what keeps us busy while you enjoy our incredible seasonal menus.

OUR FOOD

Our head chef, Alexander Webber, focuses on creating good, modern food, perfectly prepared with the flair of international influences and a contemporary twist.

His passion for local, seasonal, sustainable produce, has helped to fine-tune our sourcing from both our own garden, or from local producers who share the same mentality of ‘food the way it should be’.

SUSTAINABLE SOURCING

While many restaurants opt for the simplest way of sourcing their raw ingredients, we believe that home-grown makes a massive difference.

Our own garden provides us with seasonal greens and herbs, and our select suppliers follow our outlook that fresh is the way forward.

Fresh and seasonal fruits, meats, and vegetables are always on the menu.

ELEGANT, STYLISH SPACES

Lebohang Mosia, writing for IOL Lifestyle, discussed our look at length:

“The first thing you notice when you arrive at Workshop 55 is the chighly instagrammable interior design – quickly followed by the delicious smells wafting from the kitchen which opens directly onto the restaurant’s primary dining area. “

We aim to keep the aesthetic stylish, elegant, and interesting. Read the rest of Lebohang’s article here:
